About Harry Bronson

Proudly serving the diverse and vibrant 138th District since 2011. District 138 includes part of the City of Rochester, Henrietta, Chili, and Riga.

When families thrive, communities thrive. Harry has a strong record of fighting for values that matter to our community:‍ ‍lowering costs, fully funding our schools, safer streets, improving access to healthcare and mental health care, investing in infrastructure and green jobs, and increasing affordable housing.

As Assembly Labor Chair, he believes our economy must work for everyone. Harry is strengthening middle-class jobs, fighting for worker’s rights, on-the-job safety, and improving access to career training programs and apprenticeships that uplift people into family-sustaining careers. Last year he secured record funding to pay down NY’s Unemployment Insurance (UI) Debt, bringing relief to small businesses and raising the maximum weekly UI benefit.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Harry has passed legislation to defend and protect the right to live safely as your authentic self, including Marriage Equality (2011), Trans Safe Haven Act (2023), the Equal Rights Amendment (2024), and Shield Law 2.0 (2025).

“No matter who you are, where you come from, what you look like, what your abilities, who you love, or how you identify – we all have dignity and deserve equity, justice and opportunities.”

HARRY BRONSON: FOR THE PEOPLE, WITH THE PEOPLE

Growing up on a rural family farm with 11 siblings, Harry’s parents instilled in him a strong work ethic and the importance of family and community. Since he was 8 years old, Harry wanted to be an attorney. He credits New York’s strong K-12 public education and the SUNY system for helping to make that goal a reality.

Firmly believing public office is a privilege granted by our community, Harry takes seriously the responsibility to maintain the highest ethical standards.

Harry previously served as Chair of Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry, overseeing economic development and business throughout the state, emphasizing modern manufacturing initiatives and green job creation. As Labor Chair, he continues to increase apprenticeship opportunities with direct entry into careers and the creation of middle-class jobs in resilient industries. Harry’s successes include raising the minimum wage (2023), Warehouse Workers Injury Reduction Act (2024), Retail Workers Safety Act (2024), NLRB Trigger Bill (2025), Offsite Fabrication (2025) and Mechanical Insulation Savings Act (2025).

Some of Harry’s proudest legislative accomplishments are passing Marriage Equality (2011), which gave LGBTQ+ couples the right to legally marry, The Fight for 15 which established a minimum wage increase and paid family leave program to provide 12 weeks of paid leave. In 2023, the legislature successfully indexed the minimum wage to inflation. He also secured a Daniel’s Law Pilot for Rochester and sponsored The Child Poverty Reduction Act.

Harry is dedicated to our community and honored to represent the people and families of District 138!
